Keeping File Transfers Safe

Eaton depends on MX when sending files to suppliers, ensuring every transfer is logged and traceable. “We need proof that data reached its destination, and MX lets us verify that instantly,” explains Blundell. Because there’s no software to install and no lengthy training, program engineers can be set up quickly. They take ownership of their transfers without relying on the CAD department, saving valuable engineering time for design work.

As the system administrator, Ian Blundell sees the full picture of what’s sent and received worldwide. “I can make sure everything is moving smoothly. If someone is away, I get the alerts and can step in. The automated reminders when files aren’t downloaded are especially useful. Having a permanent record of who did what eliminates the old chase-up process we used to go through with suppliers.”

MX takes the pressure off. With multiple toolmakers in China and tight deadlines, plus language barriers at times, it removes a big obstacle. For example, we might only have 16 weeks for a major tool, and two of those are already lost to shipping.

Using MX+

“We started working with Majenta when Ford required C3P (CAD/CAM/CAE/PIM) support,” recalls Blundell. “Compliance for Ford suppliers can be costly because of the knowledge needed. As a Certified Data Services Provider, Majenta gives us immediate access to that expertise.”

Majenta delivers custom data services to automotive suppliers, helping them improve file exchange with clients and partners. Those services are delivered through the MX+ portal, a practical tool created to streamline CAD data integration for OEM programs. Eaton taps into CDSP services that cover data translation, data checks, CAD re-mastering and migration, all essential for meeting Ford’s C3PNG requirements.

The technical team at Majenta has become our go-to support. They know Ford and Jaguar inside out, and that makes collaboration easier.

– Ian Blundell, Senior Engineer at Eaton

“We can exchange customer data without hassle,” adds Blundell. “Majenta has helped us resolve issues with legacy CAD files and meet evolving requirements. We can request specific data from internal systems, and we can also submit design files for translation, approval and release.”

Close Collaboration with Majenta

Looking back at Eaton’s long partnership with Majenta, Blundell notes, “We’re in daily contact, mostly through MX but sometimes by phone. The Majenta team is always responsive. They give clear advice, deliver reliable service and we trust them completely.”
